Summary - The Presidents Palace locally known as Mulee-aage palace is a treasure from the yester years of Maldives. Giving you a glimpse of the Maldivian culture, this is one place you certainly have to visit. It offers a fascinating insight into the rich heritage of the nation and is very much part of local culture.

The gorgeous and spectacular Maldivian Island is known for its un-matched beauty. People who visit this island simply bask in this ambience paying little heed to the rich culture that exists in this nation. The beauty is so gravitating that you get lost in it but keep in mind that there is so much more to explore in Maldives. For within this tiny island there are stories that will awe, there are buildings that will inspire and there are places that will fascinate.

For the best of cultural Maldives visit the capital Male. Male is the most commercial city in the island. It is the diplomatic capital that has the embassies, important buildings and the house of the President. In Maldives the house of the president, also known as Mulee-aage is a major attraction. For one the building is very historic and comes with an array of interesting stories behind it. The Presidents Palace is exotically constructed depicting the beauty of the nation that he rules. Outside its walls, it is adorned by Islamic Art and Whites tones that stand for a symbol of power and majesty. The palace can be found across the road from Hukuru Miskiiy and boasts an exotic and richly adorned entrance. The Presidents Palace was the creation of the great Sultan Shamsudeen. It was in fact a present for his son, a safe haven that he built before the World War one. But this Sultan and his Son were banished from the island and stayed no more since 1936. Since then it fell into the hands of the government who in 1986 converted it to the residence of the President. For 8 years it remained this way being the location for the most important gatherings in Maldives. In 1994 the president moved to the eastern side of the compound but the structure in its entirety became a renowned tourist attraction.
