How to Use Fiber to Lose Weight
- 1). First, make a list of high fiber foods that you would like to add to your diet. Look for beans, berries, fruits and vegetables, as well as whole grains. There are many high fiber snacks available now that you can eat to increase your daily fiber intake. Check out, "How to Add More Fiber to Your Daily Diet" under the resource section of this article for tips on how to get more fiber into your daily diet. Your goal is to get 35 grams of fiber a day so that you can eliminate anywhere between 130-280 calories a day, just by eating fiber.
- 2). Create your own list of high fiber foods that you enjoy with the number of fiber grams for each food item. Keep the list in your kitchen and take a copy with you so that you can calculate how much fiber you are eating for the day. Keep a notebook or journal that lists how much fiber you are eating each day.
- 3). Next, find a fiber supplement to help you make 35 grams of fiber a day if you aren't able to achieve that goal through food. You can find fiber supplements that come in capsule form or powder form that can be mixed into a drink. You can also buy fiber wafers if you prefer. There are some fiber products that can be added to your food and mixed in without you ever knowing it is there. All of these fiber products are available at your local grocery store.
