Nine Ways to Use Cataclysm"s New Stats to Your Advantage
As you might have read or heard, some of the statistics in World of Warcraft are about to get a major revamp with the Cataclysm expansion.
Some statistics are being removed from items, other statistics are being removed from the game all together, new statistics are being added and the rest are undergoing changes.
Here is a short description of what was available on the official forums about the changes.
1.
Mastery - This is a new stat that will be implemented come World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
it will allow players to receive special bonuses and improvements in their chosen talent tree.
It will provide 3 different passive bonuses coming with each choice of talent tree and points spent there, so we are looking at 30 different mastery bonuses altogether.
2.
Intellect - Intellect will now grant Spell Power and will provide less mana pool bonuses compared to the amount provided in the game at the moment.
Intellect is becoming one of the most important statistic for any caster, be it healer or damage dealer.
3.
Stamina - Stamina stays as it is but the non-plate wearers should expect to see higher health pools and less difference from plate wearers.
4.
Spirit - Come Cataclysm, Spirit will be found only on healing gear and will be the statistic responsible for a healer's mana regeneration rate.
It is not known if the 5 second rule will stay, go or get revamped.
It is also not known what will happen with the Spirit buff the priests provide, as it was stated that Blessing of Kings will now only boost primary stats Stamina, Strength, Agility, and Intellect.
5.
Haste - Haste will be redesigned so it becomes more interesting for melee classes.
The changes will include a way for players to have increased energy and rune regeneration through Haste.
6.
Block Rating - Block Rating stays, but it is getting some changes as well.
All attacks you block with your shield will now simply deliver 30% less damage.
Block Rating will also scale better and will improve your chances to block a melee attack with your shield.
7.
Parry - Parry also stays as a statistic but it no longer provides 100% avoidance neither does it speeds up attacks.
The new game mechanics regarding Parry will be that if you parry and attack, the parried attack and the attack right after it will do 50% less damage.
8.
Armor - Armor stays damage mitigation statistic; however, the damage mitigation between the different types of armor will not be so big as it is now.
Still, plate armor will have highest armor values come next expansion.
9.
Resilience - Resilience is designed as a PvP stat and will stay so.
It will now only affect damage done by players and critical damage done by players and nothing else.
Strength, Agility, Hit Rating, Expertise, and Critical Strike Rating are also staying in the game and will benefit in a similar way than they do now; however, as the game is undergoing major revamp, some of them might be subject to change by the time the expansion is out.
