How to Troubleshoot Whirlpool Dishwasher Leaks

    • 1). Check the temperature setting on your hot water heater. If your water heater is set above 120 degrees Fahrenheit, the excessively hot water might cause a leak. Lower the temperature to 120 degrees if it is set too high.

    • 2). Use the carpenter's level to determine if your dishwasher is level. If it is not, adjust the dishwasher's legs to make it level.

    • 3). Check the bottom rack of the dishwasher. You should not run the dishwasher with an empty bottom rack since the water will spray directly at the door and leak through the sides. Fill the bottom rack with dishes to prevent this.

    • 4). Ensure that the water line is properly connected if there is water leaking underneath the dishwasher. Leaks from the hose to the water line can cause a leak under the unit.

    • 5). Remove large pans on the bottom rack from directly in front of the door. Water can bounce off of the pan and out the door seal.

    • 6). Call an appliance repair service if none of the above steps rectifies the problem.
