Website Salesmanship - Is Your Website Selling You?
Website Salesmanship maximizes your websites' ability to help your customers, fans and clients zoom in on the information they need to book your act or buy your CDs.
This series of tips will help you review your website to discover how well your website is selling you or your products.
Begin by focusing on the home page or your landing page.
I want you to view this page from 3 different perspectives.
1.
Your fan or your audience 2.
A potential venue or concert booking person 3.
The media These are your three target audiences that are most likely going to visit your website.
As you land on your home page, view it from the perspective of each one of these separate visitors and ask yourself the following questions: 1.
Is it clear that I have arrived at the right site? Hopefully you have some indication of your name, the name of the act, but can it be confused with another act or someone of a similar name? Is there any indication that this is for example Joe Smith the jazz vocalist? Make sure that you have enough information, clearly visible, stating to your target audience that they are in the right place.
2.
Do you offer clear instructions to the visitor of what you would like them to do next, now that they know they are in the right place? Will each of the 3 above audience members be directed clearly and easily to the area of your website where they each will get the experience they were seeking.
For example, a media person, easily gets to the page where they may download your photo or your fan easily gets to the area they can hear a sample of the new CD and then be directed to the purchase area.
Or, a venue booker will be easily directed to the description of your show and your pricing or your stage requirements.
Does your site offer each target audience member a unique experience designed specifically for them? 3.
Do you have your information organized and categorized so that your visitors can access it from your site, or are you sending them all over the internet searching for one piece of information here and another piece of information there? And if you do have resources that you use to sell your CDs or house your electronic press kits, once you send them to the new site, have you lost them or have you built in an open window so they may return to your main site effortlessly? Give your website a review from the perspective of each of the three potential audience members listed above.
Begin to tweak these areas to make sure your site offers your potential visitors the experience they are looking for to maximize your sales opportunities.
