Self Esteem in Self Directed Teams
Which team do you want to be on? Of course, you probably wish to be on the winning team, but which team is that? Often, the winning team contains the players with the most self-esteem, but have you ever considered why this is? Well, because if you have self-confidence and a high degree of self worth, then you do not need to prove anything to anyone else.
Being a ball-hog is truly irrelevant, you know who you are and what you are capable of and it hardly matters what anyone else thinks of that.
A team that is psychologically balanced and a team whose members have high self esteem is the team that I would put my money on.
Mere talent is not the only key to winning, sure it's important, but we all know that many times people choke under pressure, and it's usually those who doubt themselves, those who probably need to work on their inner strength of character, self confidence and self-esteem.
Perhaps, in sports it is just more noticeable and apparent.
Superstar athletes generally have a very high degree of 'earned ego' and I say, earned ego, because you cannot get to the major leagues without hard work ethic, talent, skill and belief in self.
Only the strong survive at such levels of play and only the best can even rise to those ranks.
This is something that should be noted when building a team, no matter what the endeavor.
You need psychologically strong folks, anything less, means that the team will be carrying their burden and psychological baggage.
Please think on this.
