Yeast Intolerance - Allowable Foods!

Starting a diet that is highly restrictive can be a hassle, especially when having to think of all the amount of items no longer allowable.

If you're on a candida diet or are thinking of starting one due to yeast intolerance this post will help you with a variety of foods you're allowed to incorporate into your diet.

This is not meant to be a complete list as their are countless different kinds of prepared items that change by country and region.

If you do most of your cooking then it's pretty simple to cut candida from your eating plan. This is a basic list of allowed items for those suffering from an intolerance to yeast.

Protein

All meat is yeast free (except if it's rotten but hopefully you won't be eating that)

As long as you use fresh meat you're in the clear.

Allowable Proteins:

Veal
Seafood
Pork
Eggs
Duck
Cornish
Hen
Lamb
Turkey
Pheasant
Beef
Goose
Chicken

Vegetables

All kinds of veggies are considered allowable.

If any of theveggie becomes rotten cut the spoiled section out. Most of the remaining parts of the veggie should be fine for consumption. Just make sure it's firm and has no discoloration, it should be free of yeast.

Foods usually thought of as veggies, such as eggplant and bell peppers are instead fruits.

Exception:

Mushroom ( is not a veggie, it's really the fruiting body of a fungus)

Allowable Vegetables:

Avocada
Asparagus
Pepper
Broccoli
Carrots (limited)
Peas
Tomato
Green Beans
Eggplant
LeafyVeggies (Mustard, Lettuce, Greens, Collards, Kale)
Squash
Cauliflower
Beets
Potatoes (small amounts)
Turnips
Onions
Celery
Radishes

Fruit

These can be tricky. You need to be more careful with these than you are with meat or vegetables. Since many fruits have a high sugar content you might trigger candida growth.

Dried fruits usually have yeast.

Some types of fruit have candida on their actual skin. Take off the skin of the fruit (has to be fresh) and eat the remaining amount.

Nuts and Seeds

These foods don't have yeast and are therefore acceptable.

Beverages

There are many different thoughts on caffeine when on a yeast intolerance diet. Some people react well and some react negatively when continuing to consume caffeine. It would be wise to attempt to have caffeine in moderation or if you can rid it from your life completely.

Here are some allowable drinks:

Acceptable Drinks:

Water
Vegetable Juice
Decaffeinated Tea
Coffee

I hope this list of allowed foods for those who suffer from an intolerance to yeast will help get you on the right track!

Good luck and here's to a healthier tomorrow!
