Three Blocks to Spiritual Growth

As people look for deeper meaning in their lives, more are turning inward to connect spiritually.
They find that spiritual growth brings them peace and harmony as well as greater strength to navigate the difficulties of life.
As in any journey, there can be many roadblocks to spiritual growth.
I'd like to briefly discuss three of the most difficult blocks.
Lack of Self-love When you are not able to love yourself, you are not able to accept love.
Inherent in spiritual connection is communion with the Divine.
To put it succinctly, there is an exchange of love.
You give freely your love to Spirit and you accept that which is freely given to you.
If you do not love yourself, you feel undeserving of receiving from God.
God has only unconditional positive regard for you.
God sees who you truly are, the love you truly are.
When you are unable to have the same experience for yourself, the unconditional positive regard that Spirit has for you, spiritual growth can be stunted.
God's love is the nourishment, the clear water that stimulates your growth.
Inability to Trust Having an open heart means you are available for recognizing the miracles in your daily life.
When you are unable to trust, you question the little miracles, the blessings given to you abundantly by the Divine.
When your heart is closed, the tendency is to notice only the difficulties of your daily life rather than the jewels scattered about.
When you trust, you know that Spirit's desire is only for your good.
Life is difficult, but if your belief is that you are being punished or that you are undeserving of good, then life is even more difficult.
If you believe you are cared for, that blessings abound, you will find those blessings rather than the trials of life.
You will trust they are there.
Resistance to Forgiving Nothing blocks happiness more than lack of forgiveness.
When you are not able to let go of the past, no matter how painful, you are doomed to repeat it in your memories and your dreams.
Each time you recall the cross words, betrayal or pain, you are wounding yourself again.
This time you are doing it to yourself.
The other person has moved on.
Holding onto past wounds causes resentments to fester and grow.
The result is a thorny shell around you that says, "Keep away.
" If you want to speed your grow spiritually, discover the wonders of yourself, trust that all is in Divine plan and let go of the past
