- 1). Pour your coffee beans or fresh coffee grounds into your jar or jars until each container is nearly full. There is no need to stuff each jar completely full; this could result in cracked or broken beans when you close and tighten the lid on each jar.
- 2). Tightly close the lid on each jar. Ideally, each of your jars will have a rubber ring seal and a latch or clamp to hold the jar closed and maintain its airtight seal, but if this is not the case, close the jars as tightly as you can to keep out as much air as possible.
- 3). Store as many of your glass jars of coffee as you will use in a week in a dark place that does not get extremely hot. Alternately, wrap each jar of coffee in thick, dark paper and tape the paper into place. This allows you more flexibility in storing the jars, because the paper will keep out the light--but you will still need to make sure the jars do not get too hot. Put any jars that you do not think you will use within a week in the freezer.
