How to Install an Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator

    • 1). Remove the cover, vacuum line and fuel return line. The cover is just for cosmetic purposes and provides access when removed. The fuel return line is on the bottom of the regulator.

    • 2). Surround the area with towels to catch gasoline. Wear goggles to prevent injury if the fuel sprays.

    • 3). Loosen and remove the two bolts holding the regulator in place with a 6 mm socket wrench, then remove the regulator with the bottom out first, which will allow the fuel to drain.

    • 4). Lubricate the O-ring, and put it between the two mounting holes. Slide the new fuel pressure regulator into place, and secure it with mounting screws. Either use the old bolts or install new ones.

    • 5). Attach the vacuum line to the side of the new regulator, and reconnect the fuel line. Connect a fuel pressure gauge of your choice to the regulator, and replace the cover. Clean up all spilled gasoline before reconnecting the battery.

    • 6). Turn the ignition without starting the car, and wait for the fuel pressure to increase. This should take several seconds. If the pressure doesn't rise, turn the ignition off and wait about a minute, then retest. Once the fuel pressure registers, check for fuel leaks. If you don't detect any leaks, start the car and adjust the fuel pressure to your specifications and preferences. Remove the fuel pressure gauge, and test drive the car.
