Maytag Refrigerator Water Dispenser Repair

    Dispenser Water Warm

    • Water from the dispenser is warm when you first plug in your Maytag refrigerator or if you use a lot of water at once. Give the refrigerator up to 24 hours to cool down the water. Check that the refrigerator is connected to the cold water pipe and not the hot water pipe. You must change the connection if it is hooked up to the warm water pipe. If you have not used the dispenser for a while, fill up one glass of water and dump it out. The next glass of water will be cooler than the first.

    Not Operating

    • If the water dispenser is not producing water, check the water supply line, and remove any kinks. If the line is badly bent, replace it. Turn the water supply valve to the "On" position. Check the water filter and the water supply line for clogs. Clean out the debris, or replace the water filter if old or damaged. If the filter is clean, verify that it is installed correctly. Compare the water dispenser installation assembly with the correct assembly in your manual. Fix the installation if you have improperly installed the water dispenser. Attach a pressure gauge to the water supply line, and check the pressure. If the pressure is below 35 psi, you must wait for the pressure to return to normal. Shut off water in other parts of the house, or contact your water supplier for assistance.

    Leaks

    • Your Maytag refrigerator water dispenser normally drips one or two drops after you use the water dispenser. Leave your glass under the dispenser for a couple of seconds. The water dispenser may also leak if you have just changed the water filter or if you have just installed the refrigerator. Run the water for about two minutes to clear the water tank, and allow it to refill.

    Additional Issues

    • If your refrigerator is making a vibrating noise, use shims to level it. If your refrigerator is making a rattling noise, secure the drip pan in place with duct tape. If your refrigerator won't turn on, verify that it is plugged into a live outlet. Test the outlet with another appliance. Look at the power cord, and replace if frayed or if you see exposed wires. Check your circuit breaker, and reset if tripped. Replace any blown fuses. If your refrigerator still won't turn on, contact a service technician for assistance.
