OCD and Help - The Little Known Entrepreneurial Link
So you're in pain, and your hurting and nobody knows what you're going through every day do they...
so what's happening, is it anything like the following * Are you suffering from 'raising the bar tension' which often succeeds in leaving you a physical and emotional wreck (and sometimes those around you)? * Do you sometimes unconsciously morph into a hyper active wreck in your attempts to 'manage OCD', and people are left wondering what has happened? * Are you compulsively repeating words or taking actions that are continually succeeding in disturbing your natural flow and rhythm? * Do you lose hours and days waging an unwinable war with OCD? * Are you diarising the daily turmoil in an often futile attempt to understand yourself and come to terms with OCD? * Do you continually ask yourself the question 'why me'? * Are you exhausting yourself by compulsing in some area in a vain attempt to stem the obsession * Do you'have to take breaks' in order to 'get some air and clear your head' I don't know exactly what it is you're going through because it's your condition and it's peculiar to you, but I'll wager its at least some variant of the above, and if it is what limitations does it put on your life, and what is it saying about your life in general.
Well, What its definitely not saying (although OCD is tricky and devious and bedevils you with some or all of these negative emotions, and often so much more) is that you need to feel guilty, need to feel secretive, or second best, that you'll never be happy or successful, or that you need to live within self imposed and false limitations or that you need to feel and listen to yourpain alone.
No, its not saying any of these things because if as some espouse, that there is no known cure, (and I think we need to acknowledge that there isn't a 'cure' per se for OCD ie, nothing less than its total and complete eradication from our lives)then maybe we need to look at other ways in which to not only cope, which is the starting point, but ways in which to thrive...
Ok I've said it could it be possible to thrive, have you ever imagined it so.
What if you could...
for a moment lets make like it's at least possible, yet before you begin to thrive lets look at some of what we might expect from the art of thriving with OCD.
TEN POSSIBILITIES YOU OPEN YOURSELF UP TO WHEN YOU DECIDE TO THRIVE 1.
Peace of mind Your focus changes from what the obsession to how you are thriving and what you are thriving on, this happens because you play tricky too and embrace OCD, deciding to use it rather than be used 2.
Acknowledgment Here's where you finally begin to appreciate OCD as something that has brought you to this point and your still alive, only now it's role is about to radically alter in your life 3.
Understanding Curiously, your only now beginning to understand that it, OCD, is not your fault or antibody's fault, probably just a genetic quirk of fate or a very stressful situation or relationship, that now becomes mailable and workable 4.
Motivation Motivation levels take off as you leverage your understanding with your doctor or counsellor's help and receive validation 5.
Momentum What you find when you finally transfer energy placement from the (false) obsession(s) to something real and truly beautiful 6.
Great Opportunities As you transfer energies to positive goals and give them energy, that once were imprisoned elsewhere so opportunities present themselves on a daily basis, imagine all that incredible energy freed up to become the best you can be.
7.
Hunger to laugh, learn and make things happen positively All those lost hours, days, months, years and now you can't wait to make up for lost time, and you just laugh and learn and learn and ...
8.
Passion for life As your energies return so does your passion.
Previously maybe the life was being sucked out of you, well now you've embraced everything in your life and you want it all, and like yesterday ;-) 9.
Re-introduction to long forgotten dreams Where do you think those dreams went to, did you think they just crawled away and died, I know it seems like that but it ain't never was so.
They've always been there, waiting, hoping, wishing'.
10.
Positive relationships Once more you begin to make positive relationships because you can't help but do that as people are drawn to you by your great energy levels and they say can I have some of that too Take the whole learning and the above actions at a steady pace.
Consult with your physician or therapist if you desire, and then go embrace and thrive with (the ocd)
