Work From Home - Tips

Working from home is becoming more and more popular not only to earn that little bit of extra cash but also as a full-time business opportunity.
It is important to treat your home business as a business and not a hobby.
A lot of people are looking for the fast track but unfortunately working from home requires a lot more effort and motivation than the traditional 9 - 5 job.
Without structure and a dedicated entrepreneurial mindset it is just a hobby and the results will not flow as quickly as they may have.
Part time effort gets part time results but if you treat it as a business and have a full-time dedication and mental focus then the rewards for your efforts will flow.
Tip # 1 - Dedicated space Have a dedicated space for your home business i.
e.
spare room / study where you can work without distractions.
This will help you focus on the tasks at hand.
Maybe even put a do not disturb sign on the door:) Tip # 2 - Dress to impress One of the great benefits of working from home is that you can work in your PJ's if you really want, but to be really successful you need to switch your mindset from home to work.
I am not suggesting that you need to put on a suit to work from home but have a shirt that has your logo on it and wear it during your work time.
This not only lets others at home know that you are in work mode but it mentally gets you ready for the work day.
Tip # 3 - Set Boundaries If you are working in an office environment then your boss would normally set the start and finish times, when you have breaks, and the tasks that you need to undertake and by when.
When you work at home for yourself these sorts of boundaries tend to be blurred as they are set on an ad-hoc basis.
Communicate with your family members so they know when you are working.
Tip # 4 - Create a Routine Get into the habit of setting a structured daily routine and try to stick to it.
It will also help other family members to know when then can interrupt you and when you are in work mode.
I would recommend the 'mini-day' schedule so you can plan you day out well in advance.
The advantage of working from home is that you can work on both business and personal tasks but try to avoid getting distracted by non productive tasks that can be done in personal time i.
e.
mowing the lawn.
Remember that you are working from home not just at home.
Tip # 5 - Avoid Distractions It is very easy to get distracted when working from home from other family members, outside influences or non-productive tasks.
Try to focus on the productive tasks and give them all your effort but also enjoy the flexibility of working from home.
The main reason I love to work at home is the ability to do things with my wife and kids but don't let this time freedom distract you from your goals of being a successful work at home entrepreneur.
