How to Remove a Sliding Glass Door Panel
- 1). Remove the fasteners that secure the upper door stop to the door header with a cordless screwdriver. The door stop sits on the edge of the upper inside door track.
- 2). Open the sliding glass door until the door is half open. Locate the two screws that adjust the wheels in the bottom of the door. There may be two round plugs on the inside lower edge of the door that you will need to remove before accessing the adjustment screws. Some manufacturers have the adjustment screw access on the lower outside edges of the door panel.
- 3). Ask a helper to hold the door from the inside. Turn both of the wheel adjustment screws counterclockwise with a Phillips-head screwdriver. This will lower the door panel as the wheels retract toward the door.
- 4). Lift the door panel up with the assistance of your helper. Swing the bottom of the door panel toward you and then pull the top of the door away from the upper track. Place the sliding glass door panel on a flat surface or a pair of saw horses to complete your repairs.
