How to Make Automotive Gaskets
- 1). Lay the gasket material out flat on the table. Place the old gasket or the auto part for which you want to make a gasket on top of the gasket material. Use a black marker to trace an outline around the outside edges of the gasket or part.
- 2). Trace around the inside edges of any openings in the old gasket.
- 3). Use the sharp knife or the razor blade to cut out the new gasket. Work slowly and carefully.
- 4). Cut the inside bolt holes or other openings following the black lines you made on the new gasket material. When the cutting is finished remove the new gasket. Save the rest of the material in case it's needed in the future.
