How to Treat a Boil That Is Oozing

    • 1). Dampen a clean rag or towel with hot water and place it on the boil three to four times a day. This will stimulate blood circulation within the boil. When the blood is circulating, more white blood cells will be able to get into the infected area.

    • 2). Use an antibacterial soap to clean the boil. Wet a rag with hot water and then apply soap to the rag. Work the soap into a lather and then place the soapy rag on the boil.

    • 3). Rinse the soap off the boil and then apply an antibacterial ointment. You can obtain this at a drug store or from your doctor. Look for the word "antibacterial" on the packaging.

    • 4). Wipe iodine over the boil if it has become irritated. Use a cotton ball to apply a small amount of the iodine to the infected area.

    • 5). Have a doctor lance or drain the boil professionally if it has not gone away within two weeks.
