How to Remove Westlock Door Hardware

    Weslock Hardware With Exposed Screws

    • 1). Examine the lock from the interior side of the door. Weslock hardware typically is held in place with two screws. You'll find one at the edge of the trim above the knob and one at the bottom edge of the trim below the knob. Use your screwdriver to remove these fasteners.

    • 2). Open the door to expose additional screws along the edge. These screws are used to hold the latch plates in place. Remove these screws and you'll be able to pull the latch plate(s) off by hand.

    • 3). Check the front (exterior) side of the door. If the door has a handle, there may be a single screw at the base of the handle. If so, remove this screw as well as the plug on the interior side of the door (if applicable).

    • 4). Pull the interior and exterior sides of the lock away from one another carefully until they are separated from the door. Use a screwdriver to remove the strikeplate from the frame if desired.

    Weslock Hardware With Concealed Screws

    • 1). Examine both the interior and exterior sides of the lock trim. Some Weslock units may not have visible screws to facilitate removal. If there are no visible screws, you will have to remove the knobs/lever from the interior side of the door before removing the lock.

    • 2). Look for a small pinhole near the base of the knob or lever. Insert a straightened-out paper clip into this hole and press firmly while pulling the knob towards you. The knob may pop off, or you may need to twist it to unscrew it from the door.

    • 3). Try to twist the rose trim away from the door. The rose is the circular piece of trim at the base of a knob or lever. It may unscrew by hand, or you may need to use a flat screwdriver to pry it off the door. Once the rose is removed, the screws for the lock will be visible.

    • 4). Remove these screws and follow the instructions in Section 1 to remove the rest of the lock.
