- Run aloe vera over your sun poisoned lips. This will work to soothe the pain and sting that comes with leaving your lips unprotected in the sun.
- Apply a cold compress to your lips. This will help cool down the skin and keep it moist. You may also want to drink a lot of cold water to keep your skin hydrated.
- Taking aspirin or Tylenol while you have sun poisoning on your lips will help to reduce the pain. Anti-inflammatory medicine such as ibuprofen will help reduce the swelling as well. Follow directions on the bottle and take as needed.
- If you have a severe reaction to the sun poisoning, a doctor will be able to prescribe steroids such as prednisone pills to help alleviate the symptoms. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that will help to reduce the swelling and discomfort.
- There are many creams and lotions you can buy over the counter to treat sun poisoning. Cortisone cream can be used to soothe the skin as well as heal it from sun poisoning.
