Egyptian Tattoos - What You Should Know
A tattoo is usually a piece of art that you put on your body, which has meaning or is a statement...
that or you had a really crazy night and woke up with a butterfly on your butt.
Seriously though, let's look back to where it all came from and how it has evolved to what it is today.
Ancient Egypt is thought to be where the influence of tattoos began back before 2000BC.
The first Egyptian tattoo was found on a mummified female wand it was patterns of dots and lines.
In fact these are similar to the tattoos the "Iceman" had, whom was dug up from the Alps in the 1990's, and common theory is that these are acupuncture spots.
Clever isn't it? It means it did not matter who had to do the acupuncture on you they would always fix your problem area.
Egyptian tattoos did come up in picture form later on and they where always some kind of symbolism whether it related to the gods, symbols for protection, prosperity or good luck there was always meaning behind a tattoo.
The art form of tattoos was spread by the Egyptians to Crete, Greece, Persia and all the way to South East Asia and still continues to influence us to this day.
Modern day Egyptian tattoos are now either an interpretation of strength and good fortune or many people decide to have their name or children's/wife name interpreted into Egyptian hieroglyphs and then tattooed onto themselves.
