    Black Forest Cake

    • A black forest cake is quick and easy to make using boxed cake mix and cherry pie filling. Bake prepared chocolate cake mix in two 8- or 9-inch round pans and let the cakes cool completely. Top one cake with 1 cup of the cherry pie filling, and place the second cake gently on top of the pie filling.     • Make a simple yet impressive-looking ice cream cake by baking the cake in a 10-by-15-inch jelly roll pan. Once the cake is cool, spread two cups of softened ice cream over the entire cake, and then roll it up tightly into a jelly roll. Use chocolate ice cream for a double chocolate cake, or use a different flavor of ice cream to create a colorful spiral on each sliced piece of cake. Keep the chocolate ice cream cake in the freezer for at least six hours before serving to harden the ice cream.
