Part Time Working Rights
- Under the guidelines of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Wage and Hour Division, part-time employees must be paid either the state or federal minimum wage, whichever is higher.
- The FLSA states that both full- and part-time employees are entitled to earn overtime pay if they work for a certain number of hours. Part-time employees who work more than 40 hours in a week are entitled to overtime pay.
- Employers cannot automatically prohibit part-time workers from enjoying certain benefits within the workplace. In the United Kingdom, for example, part-time employees must have full access to training courses and, if they are interested, pension schemes. They may also have access to health insurance.
