XBox 360 Heating Problems
- The two left lights on your Xbox 360 console and the Ring of Light will flash red when the system gets too hot, and t will not play any games until it cools down. Place the console in an area that is well-ventilated and away from heat sources, such as other electronic devices. Wait several minutes, and plug the console back into the power source. If the flashing lights do not occur again, you can now safely play games on the system.
- Smoke and dust can contribute to overheating problems by blocking vents and trapping heat inside and can also damage the DVD drive. Try to keep the console away from smoky and dusty spots, and dust the area around the Xbox 360 frequently to prevent dust buildup.
- There are a number of fans on the market that you can use proactively to prevent overheating in your Xbox 360 console. These fans can be either attached to the console or can sit underneath it and blow cool air into the system while pushing warm air out. These cooling fans tend to sell between $15 and $50.
