When you hit the road with a group of people, you may encounter a few speed bumps. However, if you plan ahead before you get in the car with your peers, you can learn from each other as you travel. Improve your group's relationship while on the road by doing some team building activities. - If you have a group of people traveling in different cars, try this activity. Start by creating a list of things your group has a chance of finding while on the road. For example, if you're traveling through Arizona, list things like cactus flowers or desert sand. Or, make the items more general, like "something red" or "something circular." Either way, create a list of about 10 or more items for your teammates to search for while on the road. As the teams make their way toward the destination, they can stop and gather these items to create an inventory. By doing this, the teammates work together and enjoy themselves in the process. See which pair found the most items off the list at the end of the road trip.
- When your teammates get closer to each other, everyone wins. For the duration of your trip, you want to have each person in the group paired off with another person so that everyone has an equal amount of time to get to know each other. For instance, if you have two days on the road, split the time between six people so they each spend about four to five hours a day with each other. While they hang out, give them a list of questions to ask each other to break the ice. Examples include "Where were you born?" and "What's your favorite book?" Once the teammates have all had time to spend together, you may notice that they can now better communicate with each other.
- Start by dividing the caravan groups into at least two teams. Each team has to occupy a separate vehicle. Hand each team a map and tell them the destination. The players in each team have to work together, using only their maps and ingenuity to figure out the quickest way to the destination. On the first day of travel, both teams show up at the same starting point. On the count of three, both teams head off to the destination. While on the road, the teams have to figure in the time spent for rest stops and the like. The first team to reach the designated spot wins the game. All teams will likely have learned the importance of teamwork in achieving a goal while on the road.
