The website owner benefits by earning revenue based on their website's traffic and other factors; the company placing the ads benefits by spreading its advertising. In order to track a website's traffic and to determine how much revenue a page earns, spyders and bots are used. These bots track a website's hits and report the data back to the advertising company.
