How to Replace Weed Eater Fuel Lines
- 1). Remove the plastic motor cover from the Weed Eater. On some models, the cover snaps into place and is removed by pulling upward on the lower edge at the rear of the Weed Eater. On other models, the cover is held in place with a single screw at the top center of the cover.
- 2). Locate the fuel line. The fuel line is an opaque plastic tube the runs between the base of the fuel tank and into the side of the carburetor housing.
- 3). Turn off the flow of fuel from the gas tank by closing the petcock valve connected to the upper end of the fuel line located at the base of the gas tank.
- 4). Disconnect and remove the old fuel line by squeezing the wire clamps securing each end with needle-nosed pliers. Slide the squeezed clamp along the plastic tube, then pull the fuel line from the inlet connection at each end.
- 5). Cut the new fuel line tube to the correct length, if necessary, based on the length of the old fuel line.
- 6). Slip the two squeeze clamps removed in step 3 onto each end of the new fuel line and slide them to approximately 1/2 inch from each end.
- 7). Push the ends of the new fuel line onto the ribbed inlet connectors. Squeeze the clamps with needle-nosed pliers and slide the expanded clamp ring over the end of the fuel line at each end.
- 8). Turn on the gas flow from the gas tank by opening the petcock valve. Prime the carburetor and start the engine as usual.
