How to Remove Spray Paint From an Automobile

    • 1). Hand wash the car using a bucket of water and car shampoo. An automotive sponge provides a good tool for removing surface dirt and grime.

Dry the car with microfiber towels after washing.

    • 2). Cut a clay bar into thirds with a knife. (Dividing the bar will save the rest of it for future use.)

    • 3). Work one of the thirds of clay in your hand until it becomes pliable. Mold it into a flat, palm-sized, pancake shape approximately 1/4 inch thick.

    • 4). Spray a 12 -by-12-inch section with clay lubricant, then place the flat piece of clay against the surface of your car.

Apply gentle pressure to the clay with your hand, and move it from side to side against the car.

Change directions and move the clay in an up-and-down motion.

Go over the area until the clay glides smoothly. If the clay becomes dirty during use, knead and reshape it.

To inspect your work, wipe the area you have just cleaned.

    • 5). Repeat Step 4 on the next 12-by-12-inch surface until you've removed all the spray paint.

    • 6). Polish or buff the car if desired.
