Origami Tree Directions

    • 1). Place the paper in front of yourself. The side of paper that you want to end up on the tree's outside, the colored side for example, should face up. The paper needs to be in a diamond shape as you look at it.

    • 2). Fold the top point of the diamond down to the bottom point. Crease the fold with a bone folder then unfold the paper.

    • 3). Fold the right point of the diamond over to the left point. Crease the fold with the bone folder then unfold the paper.

    • 4). Flip the paper over so that it is in the shape of a square.

    • 5). Fold the top edge of the paper down to the bottom edge. Use the bone folder to crease the fold then unfold the paper.

    • 6). Fold the right edge of the paper over to the left edge. Crease the fold with a bone folder then unfold the paper.

    • 7). Rotate the piece of paper a quarter turn so that it is in the shape of a diamond, with the "wrong" side of the paper still facing up.

    • 8). Move the top point and the two side points of the diamond down to meet at the bottom point of the diamond. To do this, push the side points in and down so they tuck in. Crease the folds with the bone folder if necessary.

    • 9). Fold the top flap of the right upper edge of the diamond into the center of the diamond. Crease the fold then unfold it.

    • 10

Grasp the top flap, using the crease just made, to open the flap so it is a pocket. Flatten it into the center of the diamond shape so that the crease of that edge runs down the center of the diamond.

    • 11

Grasp the remaining three flaps of the diamond, one at a time, to open each to a pocket and flatten to the diamond's center. This is the same process done to the top flap. When finished, you should have a skinny diamond shape

    • 12

Fold the diamond along the imaginary line that connects the two side points. Crease this fold, and then unfold it.

    • 13

Let the diamond pop out into a 3-D shape.

    • 14

Tuck the points of each side of the shape up and under the tree along the crease you just created.
