Traveling Workshops for Kids
- This mobile science workshop brings the classroom to under-served schools and Bay Area families. It is a mobile educational program that was taught to more than 25,000 students throughout Peninsula, covering Gilroy to South San Francisco, and includes Menlo Park. The lessons are unpacked from large storage crates, and they are returned to the box so they are ready to travel to the next teaching destination. A San Jose warehouse houses the boxes, which contain more than 550 project kits and experiments, ranging from math, chemistry, biological, forensics, earth sciences and physics.
- Ranging from grades 2 to 12, these workshops focus on 17th century English life. The program weaves the historical background with hands-on exploration. Noncostumed teachers lead the workshops, which take place in a large open area. The music and dance workshops are for grades 3 to 12, and explore 17th century singing, dancing and entertainment. Students explore the role of dance and music in the lives of 17th century pilgrims and English people. The games are for grades 2 to 12, and students learn the life of the 17th century child by engaging in riddles, hoop rolling and ninepins.
