How to Plan a Salsa Party
- 1). Send out Latin-themed invitations. Choose a fiery red color for the invitations. Include a sillhouette of a dancing couple. Word the invitations to include your name and the theme of the party, writing something like "Anna's Salsa Night!" Don't forget to include the location and date details, as well as your contact information.
- 2). Set the mood. Turn a room or the backyard into a tropical paradise. Line the entry way with tropical plants or ones that at least look tropical. Decorate tables with bright tropically-colored tablecloths, ones that include shades of yellow, red, orange and blue. Place votive candles in glass holders and arrange them as centerpieces. Another option is to use sombrero hats as a centerpiece. String Christmas lights around the room and use as much low lighting as possible.
- 3). Have a Latin food buffet table. Serve light appetizers such as tortillia chips and different types of salsa, guacamole and queso. Other easy appetizers include chicken quesadillas, empanadas, corn fritters and tacquitos. Have a bar area well stocked with tequila and sangria and make frozen margaritas.
- 4). Leave plenty of space in the center of the room for the dance floor. Hire a dance instructor to teach the salsa lesson early in the night. That way everyone can salsa the rest of the night away. Encourage him to teach other Latin dances as well. Hire a Latin band to play the music, or have a selection of CDs ready to go.
