At one time, people could go right to the dge of Lago Argentina to view the glacier. However, due to many accidents, visitors are now forbidden to do so.
Use the walkway less than 1000 ft (300 m) from the snout, for viewing.

Alternatively, you may choose to ice-trek across the glacier. You don't need to be an extreme sports enthusiast to enjoy this, but you should be fit enough to handle the techniques of walking and climbing on ice, sometimes very steep ice, with crampons.

You can get the equipment you need from your tour agency or guide. This is something you should plan to do. It's an experience you'll never forget.
