Darwin Mountains, Tierra del Fuego
Stretching across Tierra del Fuego, the Darwin mountains are the tail end of the Andes. There are sharply pointed granite peaks, snow caps, glaciers, and lakes among them. The two dominant peaks of Tierra del Fuego are Monte Darwin, the highest at 8,163 ft./2,488 m., and Monte Sarmiento (7,546 ft./2,300 m.).
