How do I Remove a Lathe Chuck Counter Clockwise?

    • 1). Unplug the lathe power cord from the electrical outlet. Loosen the set screw on the collar between the lathe chuck and the lathe with an Allen wrench.

    • 2). Insert a large Allen wrench into the hole beside the set screws between the collar and the back of the lathe chuck. Turn the lathe chuck counterclockwise until the Allen wrench rests against the base of the lathe table. This locks the spindle in place so you can turn the lathe chuck.

    • 3). Turn the lathe chuck counterclockwise with both hands to unthread the chuck from the lathe. If necessary use a strap wrench to start the chuck turning.
