For some families, it can be hard to take care of an elderly loved one. Extra care may be necessary, especially if that loved one has received surgery or has recently hurt themselves. Some families are not sure what to do. They may not want to make the nursing home an option. Fortunately, some national elderly care resources will help families out. They will give information on taking care of the elderly, elderly services and other helpful resources. - The public service of the Administration on Aging and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services run the Eldercare Locator. This program helps families and seniors find the appropriate senior services. Families and senior citizens can find services such as home care transportations, meals or caregiver needs. All that is required is a zip code, city name or county name. They will then be able to find the services they need through the Eldercare Locator database. Families can also choose to contact the Eldercare Locator at 877-677-1116. There are also helpful links, resources, fact sheets and booklets on aging and elderly care.

www.eldercare.gov - This is a national directory provided by Care.com. Families can find resources for health care, end-of-life care, housing or transportation resources, home care and financial planning. There are also legal resources that will help elders in creating wills and health care proxy forms. The Care directory will help families find the closest services possible. There is nothing to worry about with these mom-reviewed and background checked services. There are also additional articles and resources for any questions that the family or elders may have.
care.com - H.E.L.P. (helping people meeting aging-related legal and care challenges) will help answer families and elders' questions on financial, legal, health care and end-of-life care. Their goal is to help older adults achieve their independence and freedom. It also helps in assisting families with their elders or older adults. They will help elders and families through public classes, private consultations or telephone, email and written information. The Resource Center also may help answer any possible questions. All of the services provided through the H.E.L.P. program are either free or low-cost.
