Cruising is a popular means of travel for many people. The advantages of cruising include all rooms and meals in one cost, and the ability to travel to multiple islands or destinations on the same trip. There are dozens of different ports in the southern Caribbean, from Puerto Rico to the northern coast of South America. Several discounted cruises and various specials are offered throughout the year. You can also often save a lot of money by booking a last-minute cruise to the southern Caribbean, though your travel dates must be flexible to be able to go last minute. - Cruise Cheap offers a deal starting at $249 per person for a seven night cruise aboard Carnival's Victory cruise ship, as of August 2010. The cruise departs from San Juan, Puerto Rico and includes stops in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; Dominica, Caribbean; Bridgetown, Barbados; St. Lucia, Caribbean; St. Kitts and St. Maarten. You visit a different island every day, so there are no days at sea. But, if you wish to enjoy all of the ships amenities, such as a casino, health club and spa, nightclubs and several pools, you can do so at night after the ship leaves the port, or during the day. Note that some amenities, such as the casino, are not open or available while the ship is docked in a port.
