Step 1 Towards a Better Life: Being Genuinely Interested

I once watched a video on YouTube by a young girl in the 4th grade that explained life in a simple yet rich away.
The video started with her going over a survey done on people in their senior years of life.
She said, "The biggest regret for these people were not the things they did in their life, but the things they didn't do because they were too afraid.
" This planted a seed within me.
A seed that drew me to the idea that I should do everything in my power to not only go for the things I want in life, but help others achieve the things that they want most in life.
Like many of you, I wake up in the morning to the sun peeking through my window and just lay there for a while thinking about how my life is going.
This could be a scary time for some people because the subconscious has a way of bringing up aspects of our lives we prefer not to think about.
By reading this article, I aim to help calm your subconscious mind.
Now we will go over the first step aimed to help you reach your goals in life, hope you enjoy.
1.
You have to want to do it and be genuinely interested in the outcome.
Before we go any further, the idea behind it all is that you have to want to do it and enjoy the experience.
I have this theory that anything you do will be difficult if you are not genuinely interested.
Have you ever wanted to learn to play an instrument only to start practicing and told yourself, "This is too difficult.
" If you ever genuinely want to learn something new whether it be an instrument, language or even develop a new mindset, it's best to make a list of reasons why you'd like to learn that will outweigh the process fear we tend to succumb to when learning something new.
Process fear is the uncomfortable feeling we have when going through changes to our daily habits that we humans are so geared towards.
For example, process fear was present when I decided to lost weight the summer before my junior year of college.
In order to reach my goal, I would have to give up those late night runs to the kitchen to grab that bag of Doritos, Oreos and sometimes (if I was feeling feisty) my favorite vanilla ice cream.
I would have to get out of bed every other morning to work out when all I wanted to do was sleep for another hour.
But what I gained from the weight loss trumped all of those fears.
75 pounds later, I am more comfortable and confident with who I am.
I feel like a better person for my friends and family.
I feel like there's a better quality of life.
So there you go.
Here's the first step to help you achieve your goals in a happier life.
Think about how life would be if we were all consciously helping each other achieve the things we want most in life.
What if we all focused on what we can give to others more than what we can get? That's an idea worth spreading.
Stay tuned.
