Vancouver Hotels & Tourism
- The majority of hotels in Vancouver are downtown near many of the city's best attractions including Stanley Park, the seawall, Pacific Center, Gastown and shopping areas. Most of the hostels are also in this area if your budget is tight. Conversely, this area is home to most of the boutique and upscale hotels in Vancouver. Look for a hotel near what attractions interest you most. Some hotels downtown offer discounts on bike rentals for the seawall.
- The international airport is outside Vancouver in Richmond. Many hotels in Vancouver offer airport shuttles; the SkyTrain is a convenient and inexpensive option. However, if you want to save time, many hotels are near the airport in Richmond.
- North Vancouver is a separate suburb of Vancouver directly across the water from Downtown Vancouver. If you are interested in skiing or hiking, staying in North Vancouver reduces your commute to nature. There are few upscale hotels in this area, but many middle range hotels with favorable ratings are also available. A seabus takes you to downtown Vancouver in about 10 minutes. It stops in the Gastown area, which is a popular tourist area.
- West Broadway, near the intersection at Granville, is sometimes called Vancouver's second downtown. Along the Broadway corridor, there are many distinct neighbourhoods to explore. Several affordable bed and breakfasts and smaller boutique hotels are in this area for those looking for a unique stay. Public transit is frequent in this area, making getting around easy from the University of British Columbia to the multi-cultural area of Commercial Drive.
