How to Notify Social Security About a Change of Address
- 1). Contact the Social Security Administration at 800-772-1213 to report your new address.
- 2). Visit your local Social Security Administration office to report a change of address in person if you prefer. See the Social Security Administration website to find your local office (See Resources).
- 3). Report your change of address online if you prefer (See Resources). You must have a password to report a change of address online. You can get a password by phoning the Social Security Administration at 800-772-1213 or you can apply for one online. If you receive SSI benefits, however, you cannot change your address online.
