Why Is Teeth Whitening Such A Huge Industry Right Now?
It cannot have failed to escape your attention that teeth whitening is a massive industry right now. What was once primarily a luxury cosmetic treatment reserved for the rich and famous, is now widely available to everyone thanks to DIY home whitening treatments. So what are the reasons why people want to whiten their teeth?
Well for a start I think a major reason is because of the impact that music, movies and TV has on our lives. It seems to be the case that everyone in the public eye, whether they are a singer, an actor or a TV presenter, for example, have gleaming white teeth.
As a result of this, we all become a little more conscious about our own teeth, which in most cases are nowhere near the same shade of white. So in a way we all feel pressurised into whitening our own teeth in order to try and measure up, and obviously as more and more ordinary everyday people start to whiten their teeth, this pressure grows and grows.
Another reason why people want to whiten their teeth is simply because they are undoubtedly a lot more attractive than yellow stained teeth. There is a case for saying that overly bright white teeth can look a little bit odd and false-looking, but even they are better than black or yellow teeth.
Furthermore having perfect teeth definitely gives you more confidence in general, particularly in social situations where you may be chatting to someone of the opposite sex or taking part in business meetings for example. I know for a fact that I was a lot more confident after I had my first whitening treatment.
Finally I think one other reason why this industry is so popular at the moment is simply because it is pretty much affordable for everyone. Whilst professional dentist treatments are beyond the reach of a lot of people, home whitening kits are a fraction of the price and are generally the same kind of price as a good skincare lotion or a bottle of aftershave, for instance. Plus they are also just as effective in a lot of cases as they use similar strength whitening gel.
So the point is that there are lots of reasons why more and more people are walking around with shiny white teeth nowadays.
