How to Service a Coleman 502 Stove

    • 1). Unscrew the propane tank from the fuel pipe using your fingers.

    • 2). Unscrew the fuel pipe assembly with your fingers and remove it from the stove.

    • 3). Unscrew the three Phillips head screws holding the burner disc in place and remove the burner disc. You'll see seven washers around the inside of the disc, remove all the washers.

    • 4). Pour enough vinegar into the bucket to cover the metal parts you are removing. Place each metal part into the vinegar solution as you remove it. The vinegar will remove any rust and grime to make cleaning easier.

    • 5). Turn the mounting disc counter-clockwise to remove it. Place it into the vinegar solution.

    • 6). Pull off the burner bowl and place it into the vinegar.

    • 7). Unscrew the three screws holding the stove assembly on the stove tank.

    • 8). Let the metal pieces soak for 1 hour in the vinegar. Remove them, rinse them in water and dry each piece completely with a paper towel.

    • 9). Place each piece back into position, starting with the stove assembly and its screws.

    • 10

Place the mounting bowl and mounting disc back into place, fastening them tightly.

    • 11

Put the washers back into the mounting bowl and re-assemble the burner disc.

    • 12

Reconnect the stove to the propane tank and make sure it works.
