How to Make King Cal Bedskirts

    • 1). Cut the bed sheet with the scissors so it matches the length and width of the box spring or mattress.

    • 2). Measure the distance from the top edge of the box spring and the floor.

    • 3). Cut two pieces of coordinating fabric. These should measure the length of the box spring plus 2 inches long and the distance from the edge of the box spring to the floor is the width.

    • 4). Cut another piece of coordinating fabric. Make it the width of the box spring plus 1 inch long and the distance from floor to the top of the box spring for the width.

    • 5). Fold one short side of the longer pieces of fabric over 1/2 inch and press with the iron. Fold it over another inch and pin in place. Stitch along the inside edge of the folded portion on both pieces of fabric to conceal the raw edge.

    • 6). Line up the unsewn short edge of one of the longer pieces of fabric with the short edge of the short piece of fabric. The right sides should be together. Pin along the short edge and sew with a 1/2-inch seam allowance

    • 7). Line up the unsewn short edge of the other longer piece of fabric (with the opposite short edge of the short piece of fabric). Pin together and sew a 1/2-inch seam.

    • 8). Place one long side of the longer piece of fabric against one long side of the cut bed sheet with the right sides together. Pin in place. Line up the long side of the short piece of fabric against one of the short sides of the bed sheet and pin in place. Line up the long side of the remaining long piece of fabric with the remaining long side of the bed and pin. The right sides of the sheet and fabric should be together.

    • 9). Sew the fabric to the sheet with a 1/2-inch seam. Be careful stitching around the two corners. Lift the presser foot if necessary to help you maneuver around the corners.

    • 10

Fold the bottom edge of the three sides of fabric up 1/2 inch and press. Fold up another 1/2 inch and pin. Sew along the inside edge to hem.

    • 11

Drape the bedskirt over the box spring. The side of the skirt without a piece of fabric on it should go on the top of the bed. The fabric should drape down the right and left side and the bottom edge of the box spring.
