Geography

• Morning glories are native to tropical regions in Central and South America. They grow as a perennial in USDA Hardiness Zones 10 and 11, but many people will grow them as an annual outside of those zones.
  
  

Sun and Soil Requirements

• The Ipomoea acuminata must grow in full sunlight if you want it to bloom prolifically. It also needs well-drained soil but is fine with moist or partly dry conditions.

• Morning glories grow quickly, providing fast gratification for gardeners. They grow best if you are using a fence or a trellis to support their tendrils. Morning glories are suitable for groundcover or as a vine.
