How to Make Your Own Postage Stamp Box

    • 1). Make sure all surfaces of the matchbox or tin are free from grit or dust. Wipe if necessary and place to one side.

    • 2). Cut around the edges of the stamp images using the craft knife. Follow the outline as closely as possible and do not leave any white borders, which will spoil the decoupage "painted" effect.

    • 3). Paint over the outside of the box with a coat of PVA glue. Use the tweezers to lift a stamp cut out, dip it in the water and place it on the box. Smooth in place with the brush. Repeat this, overlapping the stamps slightly, until the entire surface of the box is covered in stamp cut outs. Leave to dry. Repeat until the inside of the box is also covered in stamps.

    • 4). Paint the entire box with a coat of PVA glue to create a varnish and seal, and leave it to dry. When dry, the box will be ready to place postage stamps in.
