The First Trimester of Pregnancy Week by Week
Getting pregnant is such an exciting thing and of course, you'll want to know what is going on with you and the baby the entire time.
You'll find that during the first trimester of your pregnancy there is so much going on that the changes can all be a bit overwhelming.
It's interesting to note that your first week is considered the first day of your period.
This is the starting point when estimating how long pregnancy will be.
In week two, you'll find that one of the ovaries is getting a bit larger and getting ready to produce an egg.
You may notice that you feel energetic and creative at this time as well.
Once you hit week three, this is the week that you end up ovulating.
At this point, you'll have intercourse and one of those sperm is going to reach the egg, which means conception occurs and you are pregnant.
During week four, you may be noticing that you have a bit of a metallic taste in your mouth.
Your baby is going through a lot of changes, even though you may not even know you are pregnant yet.
The baby is embedding into your uterine wall and the placenta is getting organized.
When week five rolls around, your baby is an embryo now and the heart, brain, and the spinal cord are all developing.
This is the week you miss your first period and soon you'll find that pregnancy tests will let you know your dreams are coming true.
At week six, as you look at your pregnancy week by week, you'll now notice that your waist may growing a bit.
Sometimes you may notice that you feel faint and you may be very sensitive to smells.
This is the point where you may begin dealing with morning sickness.
Your baby's heart started beating as well and it's time for you to see a doctor for the prenatal care that you need.
When you reach the seventh week, you'll be glowing because of all the hormones.
Constipation may be occurring as well at this point.
The baby now has arm buds, the face is developing, and your baby is about 1/3 inch long.
Week eight brings about sore breasts and you may even notice you are dealing with heartburn.
The baby is so much bigger at this point and this is the week that the baby is going either develop testes or ovaries.
