How to Create Snowfall on a Card Using Glitter Dome Embellishments

What is a glitter dome?  They are little round embellishments that come in a bunch of different colors, and they can usually be found a local craft store.  For this particular project I used the white glitter version but if you can't find them try looking for a pearl substitute, or crystal rhinestone stickers.

Supplies Needed:

- A2 card base or cardstock to create your own
- green cardstock for the tree
- white cardstock for the snow
- brown cardstock for the tree trunk
- stamp sentiment (optional)
- black ink pad
- glitter dome self-adhesive embellishments (available at Michaels)
- chevron border punch tool (#132154) by Stampin' Up
- mini glue dots

Instructions:

1. If you are not using a pre-made A2 size card base, cut one out of a sheet of 8.5" x 11" cardstock.  For this particular card, cut the paper in half at 5.5" with the paper trimmer.  By making one cut in the paper you are actually creating two card bases.

2. Use a scoring board and bone folder to create a crease in the cardstock.  Start by aligning the card base in a horizontal fashion across the board, then use the bone folder to make the line at the 4.25" mark.

3. Fold the paper in half and now you have an A2 card base.  Repeat with the other half of the paper if you wish to make two cards at the same time.  Set the base aside.

Create a Snow Bank Out of White Cardstock

4. Cut a piece of white cardstock into a 4" x 11" rectangle.

5. Cut about 3.5" to 4" off one end of this rectangle.  This will be used to make the snow bank on the card so if you want it to be taller, cut closer to 4".  

6. Use a pair of scissors and hand cut a curved line across the smaller piece that you cut off in step 5.

7. Adhere the snow bank to the bottom of the card front so that there is an even margin on the left, bottom, and right sides.

8. Use the chevron border punch tool and create three arrows out of a piece of green cardstock.

9. Cut a tree trunk out of brown cardstock that is approximately 1/4" wide and 2" tall.

10. Adhere the three green arrows onto the tree trunk and keep them spaced out a little bit.

11. Adhere the trees to the snow bank.  I like to put two of them on the card so that the bottom of the tree trunks are tucked behind the snow, and then one out front on top of the other two trees. 

12. I find it helpful to snip in between each of the dome stickers while they are still on the plastic packaging sheet before I try to take one off and apply it to a project.  If I don't do this I occasionally end up losing the adhesive and pick up only the embellishment itself.  Peel them off the plastic packaging sheet and apply them to the card in a random fashion around the trees. 

13. Stamp a sentiment in the bottom right corner of the card.
