The Long Road to Homeownership

One of the best things about becoming a homeowner is that you can finally do all of the things that you could not do while you were living in an apartment.
The journey to homeownerships starts when you move out of your parent's home for the first time.
Although you will encounter many bumps and grooves along the way, it is still a journey that the average person wishes to travel.
It is a sign of adulthood that you were able to buy your first home and put down roots.
Remember when you first moved into the college dormitory? There were so many problems with your roommates.
Isn't it strange that you could not wait until you got out of your parent's home? But, when you moved into the dormitory, you ended up with roommates that were worst than your siblings.
They were unruly.
They did not like to clean.
Your roommates made your living situation a total nightmare.
Once again, you needed to change your living arrangement for the better.
You could not wait until you could move out of the dormitory and into an off campus apartment.
However, the living situation wasn't any better than in the dormitory.
True, you had to deal with fewer roommates, but they still did nothing to keep your living quarters clean and comfortable.
In addition, you wanted a space where you could have some privacy and call it your own.
But living in an off campus apartment still did not give you the privacy and freedom that you wanted.
At this point in your life, your dream was to graduate and move into your own little apartment.
Finally graduation day came and you were able to get a job and settle down.
You weren't quite ready to get married and start a family, but you still wanted your own space to grow and thrive.
You got a little apartment.
Yes, it was tiny, but it was clean and you could afford to pay the rent on your own.
That meant no messy roommates.
No late night noise.
You finally had your own space.
But there was still a problem.
You could not decorate it according to your taste.
You could not change the existing layout of the floor plan.
The landlord would not let you paint the walls or change the carpet.
He would not even agree to your hanging pictures on the walls.
Your home was not a reflection of you.
You wanted a home where you could decorate it and call it your own.
Oh well, that meant more dreaming and saving up for a down payment on a house.
This time your goal was to become an actual homeowner with a mortgage.
You saved up your money and bought the home that fit into your budget.
You were okay with a fixer upper.
As a matter of fact, you were thrilled at the thought of working on various little home improvement projects around the house.
It meant that you were finally going to get that privacy and freedom that you have always wanted.
You were going to fix things up the way that you wanted them.
These days you have a lovely home that includes not only plenty of interior space, but also exterior space as well.
Yes, you have a lovely lawn and garden that you have to maintain.
That is all a part of homeownership.
Taking care of the garden is not that much of a hassle.
As a matter of fact, garden maintenance can be quite relaxing.
Also, when it comes to taking care of your lawn, you have a lawn mowing service that handles everything that you need.
In conclusion, your road to homeownership was indeed a very rocky one.
You have had plenty of roommates along the way and have lived in many not so desirable places.
However, you now have the home of your dreams and could not ask for anything more at this point in life.
