How to Identify Asthma in Pets
- 1). The cat has coughing fits throughout the day. Sometimes it is hard to discern what an animal's cough sounds like. If unsure, look for some of the other symptoms listed here, or take your pet immediately to the vet.
- 2). The cat crouches with his neck extended like he is trying to give the air more room.
- 3). There is a whistling sound when your cat breathes.
- 4). The cat is taking rapid shallow breaths or breathing with an open mouth.
- 5). The cat tires easily, especially after exercise. If you have ever seen a cat race around the house, it's obvious the lung capacity of a healthy cat is plentiful. Panting after exercise is a sign that something is wrong.
