How to Install Closed Wall Insulation

    • 1). Locate all the studs in the wall using an electronic studfinder. Measure and mark the mid point between each set of studs, 6 inches down from the ceiling.

    • 2). Cut out holes at each mark, using the hole-saw attachment to your drill.

    • 3). Load the blower with loose-fill insulation. Thread one end of the hose through one of the holes and down to the bottom of the wall inside.

    • 4). Start the blower. Withdraw the hose, slowly, as the loose insulation fills the space. Continue until the hose is withdrawn completely from the wall.

    • 5). Repeat the process for each hole, filling all the spaces between all the studs.

    • 6). Spray foam insulation into the first hole, filling it and letting it mound out. Flatten the mound with a drywall knife. Repeat for each hole.

    • 7). Hang your wallpaper board along the top of the wall, hiding all the holes.
