- 1). Place a sheet of wax paper onto a work surface with the waxy side up. Sprinkle the paper with a thin layer of sugar.
- 2). Warm 10 gumdrops for 15 seconds in the microwave on a microwave-safe plate to slightly soften them and make rolling easier.
- 3). Place the warmed gumdrops with 1/4 inches of space on all sides on top of the sugar.
- 4). Lay a second piece of wax paper on top of the gumdrops.
- 5). Roll the rolling pin over the warm gumdrops to create a large, flattened circle of gumdrops 1/4 inch thick.
- 6). Remove the top layer of wax paper and use a sharp knife or cookie cutters to cut out two large triangles, or other shapes, proportionate to the cake for the eyes.
- 7). Affix the gumdrop eyes to the cake with a dab of cake frosting on the back of each eye to act as glue.
