Design and build a power line depending on the amount of power needed at the destination, its distance from the power source and the environmental conditions and terrain of the power line. - 2). Install a step-up transformer between the power source and the transmission line to increase the voltage to the level determined in the design. Some high voltage lines go up to 500,000 volts or more.
- 3). Install a step-down transformer at the distant end of the power line to reduce the voltage to a usable level for the load.
