How to Remove the Positive Battery Cover on a GM Battery

    • 1). Place the vehicle's transmission in park or first gear (manual). Turn off the engine, open the hood and apply the parking brake.

    • 2). Locate the positive battery terminal cover. It is circular, made from red plastic and located on the side of the battery with the "+" symbol.

    • 3). Grip the positive battery terminal cover firmly in one hand. Place your other hand on the vehicle's fender for support. Pop the battery terminal cover off of the battery, exposing the battery terminal and positive battery cable.
